The skill with which we manage the living and cultural environment of land and sea is critical to our success as a society.
NATUR's primary objective is to contribute towards supporting and maintaining a highly motivated and skilled professional workforce for Wales: a workforce with the skills and competencies necessary to manage the Welsh environment.
NATUR Objectives:
• To play a lead role in helping to establish the required standards and ensuring that these are achieved and maintained.
• To facilitate and promote career development and training opportunities for the countryside1 and conservation professions.
• To raise the profile of the countryside and conservation management professions.
• To foster and help maintain partnership working in furtherance of the above.
NATUR Activities:
• Professional Institute
NATUR will be the recognised professional institute for countryside and conservation staff in Wales.
• Education and Training
NATUR will play a major role in linking professional countryside and conservation staff with universities, further education establishments and organisations involved in countryside and conservation management training.
• Conferences
The Welsh Conservation Management Conference, organised by NATUR, provides a focus for sharing training, staff development, experience and innovative management techniques, and is an opportunity for developing formal and informal working relationships. The theme of the conference will vary from year to year in response to the needs of members. Additional smaller conferences and workshops will be organised to meet demands.
• Research and Dissemination of Information
Natur will establish a knowledge-sharing system, including publications (such as Natur Cymru), websites, workshops, seminars and mentoring, and will collate and share examples of best practice to help develop standards, skills and capacity in the countryside and conservation management sector. Natur will facilitate and foster greater understanding between countryside and conservation professions and other key sectors, for example, agriculture, sea fisheries, commercial interests and developers.
